why I can’t come to the phone…
Inspired by the original cast members' personal stories and life experiences, why I can’t come to the phone… explores the spectrum of complex human emotions. The work is set to various works by Philip Glass which are reflective of his collaborations across art forms, specifically with writer Constance DeJong and theater group Mabou Mines.

About Amanda Treiber + Company
Amanda Treiber + Company (AT + Co) is a NYC-based company founded and directed by choreographer, Amanda Treiber. The Company creates work that connects and activates performers and audiences through our shared human experiences. The company’s rich repertory employs the postmodern and ballet idioms, pushing the envelope of how theater and dance is presented.

Treiber's work has been presented by New York Theatre Ballet, The Little Orchestra Society, Kutztown University, The International Collective, CounterPointe, WestFest Dance, Battery Dance Festival, Princeton University, and Vail Dance Festival. She has been awarded grants from the NY City Artist Corp, choreographic residencies at Sky Hill Farm Studio, and was a semi-finalist in the 2023 Goodmesh Concours.

Treiber’s work celebrates collaboration across all art forms. She has collaborated with composers Phyllis Chen, Lauren Vandervelden, and Kornel Thomas; Chilean bassist Manuel Figueroa-Bolvarán; and visual artist Marcy Rosenblat. Dance Enthusiast writes of Treiber's work, “Witnessing the blending and melding of people and art was an unforgettable experience, one that left a lasting impression on the audience.”
